AI Traffic is clicks that are coming from AI chatbots or AI mode in search that are coming to your website.
When an AI displays an answer to a query it includes links to the website or source of the information it is using. These links can then be clicked by the user to get more information from the source or to click through to your business to find out more.
Clicks from AI are considered more valuable than clicks from Search as the person has already read the AI overview and decided to click through to your website to find out more.
myPresences makes it very easy to see what traffic you are getting from 7 major AI chatbots to your website and which pages are getting the traffic.
Finding AI Traffic
The AI traffic feature is available under the AI menu on the left navigation bar. Click on the AI Traffic link to view your AI Traffic.
Connecting your Google Analytics Account
myPresences uses the data from your Google Analytics account to determine the traffic coming from AI.
If you haven't already connected your Google Analytics account, your page will look like this.
first connect Google Analytics by clicking the Connect button.
This will take you through the process of connecting your account via Google. Once it is connected it will not need to be connected again.
You can manage your connections in the Connect page under Setup.
If your website does not support Google Analytics we cannot show you your AI Traffic.
AI Traffic Page
Once connected to Google Analytics the AI traffic page shows you your traffic on all the top AI chatbots and the pages on your website that are being cited the most.
The default view shows you totals and pages for the last year.
You can change the date range from the date range selector at the top of the page to any date range you want to analyse.
Check in here periodically and check traffic for shorter date ranges (1 week or 1 month) to see more recent citation activity.
The page shows a total for the date range for the number of clicks from each AI chatbot and a list of pages on your website the clicks are going to. The most clicked pages are at the top.
How to use AI Traffic
The first thing is to understand what traffic is coming from the AI chatbots and which pages are being clicked.
From this you should focus on the pages that are cited and which are not.
- Are your most important pages being clicked. If not focus on optimising these pages to be cited by AI.
- For pages that are being cited and clicked. Optimise these pages as well to be cited more often and by more AI chatbots.
- Check content on highly cited pages. If pages are getting a lot of traffic from AI check the content to ensure it is correct and as valuable as possible. Once you have received a click from AI it is far more likely to convert to action than a search click. Make sure the page is able to convert the visitor or link them to pages that convert them to a customer.
