Many online services allow you to Claim your listing or profile on their service.
This means you are taking ownership and asserting you are the owner (or representative of the owner) of that listing and you would like to take control of it.
The benefits of claiming listings changes from service to service but generally claiming a listing will provide some or all of the following benefits:
- Not allow other parties to claim the listing and take control of your information
- Give you additional benefits such as being able to add additional fields, more photos or adding deals or specials
- Give you access to management functions such as dashboards and reports
- Lead to better visibility on the service as they may rank claimed listings higher
You should Claim as many of your listings as you can with a focus on the more important services first.
What have you claimed
You can see what listings can be claimed and which are already claimed from the listings page.
At the top of the page there is a Claimed gauge showing the percentage of your listings that are claimed.
It shows the number of listings already claimed (12) and the total number of listings that can be claimed (20).
You can filter on your listings that are claimed or unclaimed using the filter buttons. This is a good way to focus on your unclaimed listings to claim them.
Claim your listings
In myPresences we track the services that can be claimed and make it easy for you to claim these listings by linking you directly to the claim process where possible.
To claim your listings:
Filter by UnClaimed listings and then choose claim from the context menu on the listing.
You can also claim your listings from the top of the listing profile page.
Costs
Most listings are free to claim. Though some services may charge a fee depending on what country you are in or if you want to speed up the claiming process. You should look at the benefits of claiming your listing on these services and determine if the cost is worthwhile.
Some examples of services that may charge to claim are Foursquare and 2FindLocal.
