Connecting listings is required for some services such as:
- Twitter\X
This may be referred to as Connecting or Authorizing or some other name. It is the process of your giving permission for myPresences to access the information associated with your listing or business profile.
You may be connecting a service when adding a business location or when you are connecting listings so they can be managed.
If you are unable to connect your listing on a service there are a number of reasons that may be the cause.
- The email you are using does not have an account on the service.
- Your account does not have management access to the business location or profile.
1. Your email does not have an account.
The email address you are using my not have an account on the service you are connecting.
For example, if you are using info@example.com to connect a profile on Google Business this email address may not be associated with any Google Accounts.
If this is the case, your profile may be associated with a different email address. Try different email addresses that you might have used when creating the profile.
2. Your account does not have management access to your listing or profile.
Your email address may be valid for a service but it does not have management access to any profiles on the service. You may just be a user but cannot change the details for any listings or profiles.
If you are using the correct email address then you will need to be given management access to the profile by whoever currently has that access.
This may be:
- The owner or manager of the business
- Someone who manages your IT infrastructure
- Someone from your marketing department
- A third party like a marketing company who manage your online presence for you
Contact the appropriate person and let them know you need to be added as manager of the profile.
3. Your profile is not the correct type.
For facebook and instagram you may not be able to see and connect some accounts. This is because we do not load personal user pages other than the one used to authorise the connection.
So if you have a page that does not appear when you are connecting facebook or instagram you likely have a user page.
If it is meant to be for a business you should convert the page to a business page.
As of July 2024, facebook has removed the ability to convert a user page to a business page. You may have to create a new business page and set that up and then remove your user page.
If you have an instagram account that can't be connected to myPresences it needs to be a Business Instagram Account and connected to a Facebook Business Page.
If you are unable to be added as a manager of the profile
If you are unable to added as a manager or administrator for a page then you can give the person with management access a user account on myPresences and they can login and connect the profile themselves. This only needs to happen once so they can connect it for you and not have to login again.
To do this:
- Add the person to your account.
- Send them a link to https://app.mypresences.com/connect/ so they can connect the profile.
